The recent outage of Well #4 was caused by a short circuit. Tension on a wire caused the insulation to chafe in the junction box at the top of Well #4. Because this could have been caused by a serious problem at the bottom of the well or in the pump column, the contractor de-installed and inspected everything. No down-hole problem was found, and everything was reinstalled. The junction box connection was redesigned to prevent mechanical strain and chafing of the wires, and the problem is deemed unlikely to recur. There was no cost to Crestview, or lost groundwater production because Well #6 was able to supply our whole system. As previously reported, the outage occurred on January 30, and Well #4 was back online April 24.
