There will be a 20-day period for public comments to City Planning Staff about its draft environmental document, details here. There will be a later chance to submit comments to the Planning Commission on the Staff report, the final environmental document, and everything else the commenter wants the Planning Commission to know.
The Planning Staff does not hold hearings, and it does not invite written comments on the whole project, but it does receive written comments to aid it in drafting an environmental document called a Mitigated Negative Declaration (“MND”). At the same time, Staff is preparing a separate Staff Report in which it describes the project and makes its recommendations to the Planning Commission. Typically, the Staff Report is a larger document repeating much that is in the MND and with many pages of “standard” and non-standard conditions. Both documents are presented to the Planning Commission before its hearing.

Electronic Comments: To submit electronic public comments please visit www.cityofcamarillo.org/publiccomment .

Written Comments: You may submit written comments to the Department of Community Development by mail attention Planning Division, 601 Carmen Drive, Camarillo, California 93010. If your written comment is received by 4:00 p.m. on the meeting date, staff will distribute copies of your comments to all Planning Commissioners prior to the meeting. Written comments received after 4:00 p.m. will be distributed to the Planning Commissioners after the meeting.

Verbal Comments: Verbal Comments will be received on any item on the agenda at the time the agenda item is heard. Comments are limited to three minutes for each speaker and each speaker may only speak once on each item. The Planning Commission will receive general public comments for items not on the agenda during the Public Comment time. Action cannot be taken on any item that is not on the agenda but may be referred to staff or scheduled on a future agenda.
Note: Comments that have previously been filed may not have been read or considered by the Planning Staff or its environmental consultant. Therefore, comments submitted to Staff may need to be refiled in order to get the attention of the Planning Commissioners.
